NIGERIA NEEDS YOUR FATHERLY ATTENTION: An Open Letter to Traditionalists of Nigeria first published May 27, 2014

Boko Haram insurgency un-paralyzed, a great fear is becoming overwhelming Nigerians, young and old, male and female; and Nigeria is under an invasion by foreign powers in the guise of searching and rescuing the young Nigerian female students, who were kidnapped by murderous Boko Haram on April 14, 2014. This has become a lamentable situation in Nigeria, Africa, and the world as Nigerians themselves have not own-up to it enough to destroy the murderous gang by any means possible, to set the young students free. This is a very sad situation which should be unacceptable to Nigerian traditionalists and the traditional fathers of our country.
It is a tormenting and regretful situation for Nigeria because Nigerians have the traditional knowledge and means to eliminate the kind of threat posed by Boko Haram; Nigerians fold their arms waiting for their adversaries or opponents to come and do for them what they ought to have done for themselves.  The traditionalists and traditional elders of our land who understand the dictates of our  cultures, customs and traditions are silent.  Our traditional fathers, the custodians of everything cultural in our country before the advent of colonialist and modern government and administration, had appeared to have kept mute over the menace of Boko Haram.  We have it an adage that the elder cannot sit in the kitchen and allow the fire to go out.  The glowing light of Nigeria is shamefully being allowed to be extinguished by silence and indecision.  This should be unacceptable to Nigerians especially Nigeria’s traditional fathers and mothers.  Nigerians, male and female, young and old, are proud and aggressive people with industrious mind; Nigerians are not a lazy people; therefore they are now confounded as to what is happening to their land under their watch with foreign military forces searching or invading their homeland’s sacred Spaces.
For this reason, this open letter is inviting our traditional fathers and mothers of Nigeria to come to the aid of Nigeria and its people.  Nigeria and Nigerians need your attention.  It is not too late even though the foreigners are around.  It is better to be late than never, and it would even be better we destroy the murderous insurgents while the foreign powers are present.  Our traditional fathers and mothers should call on their able men and women of traditional knowledge who normally advice and guide them in such situations that call for Spiritual attention.  These are times that try men’s souls.  This letter is calling for the deployment of “African scientific knowledge” of the ancient and traditional sciences of occult, mysticism, ebiko, ajijah, and others, unknown in some modern societies.  Let us show the world, we can do it; we are able; we can destroy Boko Haram and any other enemies of our country if it comes to that as well.
This letter is also calling on all the witches and wizards of Nigeria to
assist the country at this time as to keep silent is to bite the fingers that feed us all, Nigeria.   It is wrong for us to blame anybody or government now.   Let us drive away before we query the chicks as to why they went outside instead of staying in-door.   The safety and freedom of the over 200 Chibok female students is paramount because the freedom and safe return of the students hold the return of prestige and image mending for Nigeria and Nigerians as things stand today.  It is not only the knowledge of how to make or attract money with “African science” or magic and how to win more votes over an opponent by Nigerian politicians that are available in Nigeria.   There are Nigerian native doctors, witches and wizards and other traditionalists who should know how to make Boko Haram members to fall asleep by force while the girls will return home safe.  If African Slaves in Haiti were able to cause unknown plague to bring about the defeat of Napoleon Bonaparte’s Army of 32,000 men, in their bid to continue to hold the Slave from becoming free, what stops Nigerian traditional doctors, witches and wizards from inflicting plague on Boko Haram?   It is not impossible to cause confusion by native means among members of the Boko Haram whereby they would release the students not knowing or realize what they are doing.  If Nigerians witches and wizards were able to manufacture an Air plane that could fly to New York and back to Nigeria the same night, they should be able to know what to do to dislodge Boko Haram at the pleasure of Nigerians and Nigeria, by extension, the world.   Some of  the suggestions being made by this letter are probably the safest methods that ensure the safety and freedom of the Chibok Girls as against attacking Boko Haram the modern way by the Military.
According to reports, Boko Haram met their waterloo in the hands of civilian citizens of Rann headquarters of Kala-Balge local government area of Borno northeast of Northern Nigeria.  The report has it that the civilians launched an unbridled offensive against Boko Haram killing over 200 of them; this was because the civilians with anger had pounced on the insurgents and unleashed a mayhem of rocks, knives, local guns, bows and arrows including “African magic” to the extent that the frightened terrorists lost their total composure as they scampered for safety not grasping what had hit them, the report added.  It is the kind of spirit the traditionalists, witch doctors and wizards of Nigeria should have cultivated to deal with Boko Haram, especially that the abducted girls’ where about has now been known by the Nigerian Military.

Let us not wait for government for many of those in governments may not have understood the mistake by not looking inward in their attempt to fight Boko Haram.  Boko Haram is not operating with empty hands.   We know many of those in governments run to the witch doctors and traditional spiritualists at night but they discriminate them during the day; theirs is ignorance having been over whelmed by foreign iconoclastic religious dogmas in our land.  It has also being reported since that Boko Haram has as their members some men of the country’s armed forces which has been why Boko Haram has been able to strike  when and where ever they want to destroy in the country.  Under this circumstance, traditional knowledge of the people ought to be deployed to save the country from the humiliation the undefeated Boko Haram would bring; the traditional fathers and mothers of the land must rise up to the occasion. There is no more time to waste.
